Small Groups/Bible Studies

Picture1At Rutgers we recognize the need and importance of meeting in smaller groups to foster closer knit communities and discussion-based growth for our members. Our Small Groups are based on the early church model from Acts 2:42-47 and are most often a Bible Study format. Bellow are the small groups currently in session. Scroll down for descriptions of each and contact info for the student leaders in charge of the group. Feel free to reach out with any questions you might have regarding the group.

19553147_1819724491672505_1732431154_nFrom Bobby: Hey everybody! I’m Bobby and I’m the current coordinator of the Acts Bible Study. We are a group open to any member the of the Rutgers community that meets in the Academic building. We generally assign a member of the group to be in charge of facilitating the discussion each week and they do a study of the passage prior to the meeting and come prepared with comments and question on the passage. Once we read through it as a group, we dive into each verse by discussing context and the meaning of the passage as a whole with the help of Bible commentaries, online articles and most importantly prayer and meditation  on what the Spirit wants us to learn. Hope you can join us and contribute to our small community of saints dedicated to deepening our knowledge of the Word. Feel free to stop is any week and participate or just observe; whatever makes you feel more comfortable works for us!

24296492_10108993127572139_7290621740049851758_n (1)Women’s time is a chance for the women of CRU to gather at our staff member’s home about once a month, and be poured into by Karen Waters who is a wonderful mentor and friend. This time is often focused around a certain topic which we explore through it’s Biblical context and what God has to say about it, as well as discussion. Come out for a wonderfully uplifting time the includes many delicious snacks to boot!

From Karen: This group is designed to be a place of encouragement, prayer, and keeping us connected as a community of women of God. In between the times when we can get together in person, feel free to post in our Facebook group what God is teaching you, those more personal prayer requests, or encouragements! The prayer and hope of this group is that we will stay connected and push each other towards God’s will in our lives. “Let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another all the more as you see the day drawing near” Hebrews 10:24-25
